Sweden at the MOC Championship and MOC Camp

With the confirmation of the Swedish team, Scandinavia will be widely represented together with the national teams of Norway and Denmark. With them the best European orienteers like the Norwegian Benjaminsen and the Belgian Michiels.

Super news that will make the opening appointments of the PWT Italia season truly exciting: even the Swedish national team will reach the peninsula to work on their preparation thanks to the XVIII MOC – Mediterranean Open Championship and the MOC Camp.

Thanks to the always large presence of the best continental orienteers, the events are confirmed as unmissable appointments for the community. Also there will be at the start the Norwegian Andrine Benjaminsen, winner in Alberobello and Monopoli in 2022, and the Belgian Yannick Michiels.

The MOC Championship, now in its eighteenth edition, will be held on the weekend of 1-2 April in Gargano, Puglia. On Saturday the Sprint distance will be welcomed in the historic center of the wonderful Vieste, with the finish line on the seafront after a particularly technical track characterized by steep ups and downs and variations in direction. The following day the Long will take place in the luxuriant Umbra Forest, with a unique orography with its beech woods on karst terrain dotted with sinkholes and depressions. Both races will be valid as 1st and 2nd round of the FISO Italian Cup, as well as awarding points for the World Ranking Event.

From 3 to 8 April, we will continue with the MOC Sprint Camp, the official training camp of the European Orienteering Championships, whose challenges will take place between Verona and Lake Garda. The participation of the Swedish national team, led by coaches Kalle Dalin, Thomas Landqvist and Karolina Östlund, will add to that of the already announced national teams of Norway and Denmark.

Along with training opportunities managed by the organization, the three main days will be dedicated to the Sprint format (April 4), the Sprint Relay (April 5) and the KO Sprint (April 7). The evenings at the event center in Castelnuovo sul Garda will be enlivened by in-depth and training seminars with the testimonies of coaches and pro athletes.
