Il team di PWT Italia si prepara al weekend di gare nazionali, che da domani prenderanno il via a Carrara con i Campionati Italiani Sprint WRE e la finale di Coppa Italia in bosco. Specialmente nel mese successivo alle coppe del mondo in Cechia è dirottata la preparazione degli atleti sulla disciplina Sprint in vista degli imminenti Campionati Europei Sprint organizzati da PWT Italia e la FISO ad inizio ottobre in Veneto.

Nelle ultime settimane si sono svolti training camp della nazionale con test fisici e gare di selezione: da sottolineare la vittoria di Riccardo nel test Knock-out, che si riprende così dall’infortunio procuratosi in terra ceca, e il quarto posto per Annarita, che ha perso i primi posti solo nella volata finale. Al camp presente anche Sebastian Inderst con buonissimi feedback registrando il proprio PB nel test 3000.

Per ciò che riguarda i nostri atleti Junior, Alessandro Bedin ha partecipato con il comitato Veneto al Trofeo delle Regioni in Basilicata mentre Celeste Nike Pretto ha preso parte a numerose gare internazionali. Da citare per Celeste la partecipazione per meriti scolastici al camp di vela navale con la prestigiosa scuola Navale Militare Francesco Morosini a Venezia.

Una settimana fa a Česká Lípa si è concluso il secondo round di Coppa del Mondo 2023. Presenti all’evento internazionale Sebastian Inderst e Annarita Scalzotto, che così commentano i propri risultati in terra ceca.

🗣️Inderst: “Purtroppo un round di coppa del mondo decisamente sotto tono per me. Nonostante delle prestazioni stabili dal punto di vista tecnico, è mancata la grinta ed energia dal punto di vista fisico, che mi ha impedito di esprimermi al meglio delle mie potenzialità; questo sicuramente è dovuto al tempismo rispetto ai campionati mondiali: troppo distante per mantenere il picco di forma, ma troppo vicino per inserire un altro blocco di allenamento.

Ma ora si guarda avanti, tra meno di 2 mesi c'è l'europeo in casa, quindi il focus ora si sposta interamente sulla disciplina sprint!”

🗣️Scalzotto: “Sono contenta e grata di aver collezionato ancora un’altra esperienza internazionale; mi sono resa conto che manca ancora tanto lavoro in vista all’europeo: ma questo non fa altro che motivarmi ancora di più. Pronta e carica ad allenarmi per il prossimo mese!”

I ragazzi si dicono quindi pronti a voltare pagina e a concentrare le prossime settimane alle discipline sprint. Proprio oggi mancano 50 giorni agli @eoc2023 !

Here we go, the 2nd World Cup Round is just around

Here we go, the 2nd World Cup Round is just around the corner. The schedule includes the debut of the Sprint disciplines in 2023, with the Individual Sprint on Wednesday 2nd August and the Sprint Relay on Thursday 3rd August, and the two individual forest races on Saturday 5th (middle distance) and Sunday 6th (long distance) August.

For PWT Italy, Inderst and Scalzotto are ready to compete on an international level. For the whole team, this is an important test, especially for the sprints, in view of the European Championships in October.

Two weeks ago one of the most anticipated events of the year came to an end: the WOC 2023. We had left with a prestigious top 25 for our athletes Riccardo Scalet and Sebastian Inderst in the long distance. The middle race unfortunately saw the injury of Riccardo Scalet, who commented on the incident as follows: 'Things don't always go as planned. Now begins a long preparation for the big event in 2023, the European Championships at home in October." To Riccardo the whole team wishes a speedy recovery!

Instead, Sebastian returned to the field with the Italian relay team, which finished in 12th place, recording one of the best relay performances in recent years. Inderst comments on his World Championship: "A very successful week. In the long run I managed to keep my nerves and run a steady race, thus achieving the ambitious goal of the top25. In the days that followed there was a real rollercoaster of emotions, and with Riccardo's unfortunate injury I was given the delicate task of the relay race's mass start. Here I was unfortunately a little less technically clear, but overall I still had a stable performance and as a team we are satisfied with 12th place, our best World Championship result since 2012!"

The next international appointments will see Sebastian Inderst and Annarita Scalzotto wearing the Italian jersey at the second World Cup Round in the Czech Republic from 2nd to 6th August. Inderst will run the forest races while Scalzotto the sprint races. While waiting for pre-race comments, we wish them all a good preparation!

The first medals of the WOC 2023 were awarded in the long distance in Switzerland today. Scalet and Inderst were able to achieve a historic result for PWT Italy, placing both in the world top 25 (Riccardo 16th with 13:46 min. behind, Inderst 24th with 18:04 min. behind).

Looking forward to the comments of our athletes, team manager Gabriele Viale: "I am proud of the guys, it's a prestigious result that repays the efforts made over the years. I think we are one of the few clubs in the world that can have two athletes in the world top 25, it is a great result but we look forward to Saturday's middle race with confidence".
