Time to award the first medals at World Orienteering Championships 2019 with the Long Distance Final. Once again PWT Italy is in the game with Sebastian Inderst.

After what showed on qualification of Tuesday and the good placements of the previous years, we were sure that Sebastian was ready to give everything he had and run for a top position. So he did! First controls with a good feeling, but unfortunately a mistake on 5th control where, many others including the strong Swede Svensk, missed and made him lost some minutes. From there on a pretty stable run to finish the race in 43th place overall.

Right after the race these were Sabastian’s words: “I begun with a safe orienteering technique, then Kasper Fosser caught me and I tired to keep up with him but the pace was extremely fast to I lost him at the long leg. After that a mistake and from there on it was a fight… soft terrain, where you had to push and be strong all the time. But I was really drained from energies…After the qualification yesterday I was of course not totally fresh, but this not an excuse, I mean today’s terrain was hard to run anyway. Now I’ll try to recover for the Middle Distance Final.

As expected, the race was dominated by the Norwegians with the victory of Olav Lundanes and the surprise of the young Kasper Fosser in second position, followed by Daniel Hubmann. Congratulation to all winners and runners!
