MOC 2022, a workshop on orienteering in Alberobello

The organizational process for the 17th edition of the MOC Mediterranean Open Championship Orienteering is proceeding relentlessly, a competition valid as the 1st 2022 Italian Orienteering Cup, which will take place in the early afternoon of Saturday 19th March in the streets of Alberobello.

On Friday 4th February in the capital of Trulli, a services conference was held with the involvement of all the competent bodies to define the progress of the works and plan the activities related to the event, which will attract about 500 orienteers with a strong representation of international athletes from Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Czech Republic, France, Estonia, Belgium and Spain.

For the staff, the race will also be the official test for the Masters World Championships, in Gargano from 8th to 16thJuly, and will be preceded by a workshop on orienteering, including sport, tourism, environment, health and school, as told by Michele Barbone, WMOC 2022 Committee President: “Puglia is affirming its connotation as the Italian orienteering home with ever greater firmness thanks to a unique landscape and the strong involvement of local administrations, with whom we are collaborating synergistically for this important project. Numerous initiatives are planned for the promotion of the discipline, which will leave a sporting heritage to the territory even at the end of international competitions. Among these, the decision to hold a workshop in Alberobello on March 19th about the profound link between and tourism, for which has already confirmed the presence of Dr. Vito Cozzoli, Sport and Health President and Managing Director. This confrontation will also launch the conference scheduled in Gargano on July 9th on the occasion of the World Masters Orienteering Championships 2022″.
